Filmbrella process

The Filmbrella is made up of photo negatives of photos I took and sewn together with twine into a 'fabric'. The photo fabric is sewn onto an old umbrella frame that no longer functions in the elements.

When I see items repurposed and brought into a new life, it stops and makes me think. A double take in the flow of how things work. Clever ideas, inspire others for new functions. I think you see more and more repurposed and up cycled art these days. A sort of reflection of our "throw away culture" and our need to rethink it.
